I am fortunate to live in Spain in an area with many golf courses. The game of GOLF is my passion. But there is no equipment here to allow disability golfers to play ! Not one golf course in the region of Orihuela Spain has looked into golf disability issues. There are at least 10 courses and Golf shops available.

Technology has come so far in golf! The para golfer cart, the solo rider and the power motion chair make it possible for mobility challenged players to enjoy the game of golf. Ataxia took away my ability to stand steady, walk long distances and play golf. But my love of the game never died ! ( also a seniors issue ? )

Now all we need is a willing partner or a Sponsor to make this situation change ! My awareness campaign has begun. Ataxia and other neurological problems or brain injury can even land you in a wheelchair – affecting your lower limbs. The world #1 disability golfer ( Kip Poppert – England ) has a form of Cerebral Palsy is playing at the Hong Kong open. An all inclusive golf tournament. If he can play – we ALL can play !

Technology has given disability golfers a reason to get back in the game. Hopefully the golf community in this region of southern Spain will back our efforts to bring about a change. The Handisport Foundation in Spain is collaborating alongside our ideas.

We came upon a very poignant story from FARA about a guy diagnosed with FA at the age of 21 years old. He loved the game of golf ! But at the time he was diagnosed and the progression rate of Ataxia increased there was no possibility of playing golf again. But today the technology in golf has the para golfer carts to keep people like him in the game.

A golf foundation in Spain aims to help change all that for him and millions of people also suffering with neurodegenerative illnesses to stay in the game. Technology has given people who play golf a game changer. A para golfer cart is able to help steady their stance – go long distances on the golf course –  stand up and play golf .

With the new advances in treatments coming and the para golfer – people with its daily capabilities to improve the lives of so many who love the game of golf and the leisure activities they do. The game of life has more possibilities. We can take back our independence. Joy is returning to people who have Ataxia and love to play golf.
